Why Automate (and Why I Call It Wizardry)When I first started automating my own work, it wasn’t about saving time. It was about something simpler: it felt like magic. I’d click a button or say a command, and suddenly files moved, notes synced, emails sent, tasks appeared— all without me lifting another finger. It was as if I’d whispered an incantation and the world moved on its own. That’s still why I do this. Automation isn’t just efficiency. It’s techno-magic—real-world spells you design yourself. From Incantations to Automation WizardSome of you have been here since this newsletter was called Incantations. That name came from this exact feeling: I’m performing incantations to create spells. The new name, Automation Wizard, makes it clearer what this newsletter is about— but the magic hasn’t gone anywhere. If anything, it’s stronger. The Deeper WhyHere’s what automation does for me:
There’s a thrill in seeing your systems come alive— watching something you built move like it has its own mind. That thrill is what gets me out of bed to build new workflows. That’s the energy behind this newsletter. What Automation Really MeansPeople talk about automation like it’s a race to do more in less time. But time isn’t something you can “save.” You can only spend it better. That’s why I automate— not to chase efficiency, but to win back my most finite resource: time. Automation isn’t about doing less work—it’s about doing less repetition. It’s about clearing space for the things that actually need you. Every minute you waste fixing something a system could have handled is a minute you’ll never get back. Automation gives those minutes a second life.
Why I Created Automation Wizard
|
I help creators and small teams design automation systems that make their operations flow—so they can spend more time creating and less time managing.
It’s informal—just a chance to look at what’s slowing you down and explore ways automation or AI could make your business run smoother.

Last week, I thought I was running out of space on my NAS (Network Attached Storage, basically my central storage of hard drives at home). The warning lights were flashing, the drives looked full, and my brain immediately shifted into problem-solving mode. I started mapping out backup tiers, sync rules, and cleanup scripts. I even looked at buying another 16TB drive I didn’t really need. After an hour of overthinking and mapping, I noticed something ridiculous. Both recycle bins—local and...
There’s a special kind of panic that comes when you realize you might have just broken something that really matters. Mine started with one small file — a cryptographic key used to publish a client’s Android apps on the Play Store. We were hours away from handing everything back after years of collaboration with a major client. The transition needed to be clean and professional. And then I couldn’t find the key. See, a few years earlier I had made what I thought was the responsible choice: I...
Most people think the magic of AI is in the answers. But the real magic? It’s in the questions — and how you write them. Because let’s be honest. Asking AI for something then getting a sloppy answer really kills the mood. Makes a person think it’s not worth the hype. But who has time to research and learn “effective prompting” from the army of AI bros on social media? Not me. So here’s the shortcut almost nobody talks about: You can use AI to help you talk to AI. I know, it sounds a bit like...
